A low pass which gives easy access to the Beardmore Glacier, from the Hood Glacier, and is therefore a key point for any expedition which plans to travel up the Beardmore Glacier avoiding the badly crevassed area between Mt Kyffin and the Granite Pillars. Crossed by members of the NZ Alpine Club Antarctic Expedition, 1959-60, on Christmas Day, 1959, and named by them because of the festivities held to mark the day.
