Feature type: Nunatak (2b)
This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A nunatak approximately 7.4km long east to west and 1.5-3km wide, in the Mackay Glacier near its south side, and opposite Mount Gran approximately 14km due north. Feature shown on: NZ AntTopo50-MD07
The Northern Survey Party of the New Zealand Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1956-58, established a survey station on its summit on 22 November 1957. They named it because it was necessary to make a detour on the way up the Mackay Glacier to pass south of the nunatak.
