Discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition (Discovery Expedition, BrNAE), 1901-04, in December 1902, and named for Admiral Sir Archibald Douglas, Lord of the Admiralty, who had persuaded the Admiralty to assign navel seamen to this expedition.
