A small but impressive 3600m peak, below, and to the north-west of Mt Fridtjof Nansen. Seen from the south-west it appears to be an isolated mountain at the edge of the Polar Plateau, but from the north and north-west it appears as a peak at the head of a buttress projecting into the Liv Glacier. Surveyed and named by the Southern Party of the NZGSAE, 1961-62, for Tore Gjelsvik, Director of the Norsk Polarinstitutt, Oslo.
