A sprawling, irregular mass, almost completely ice-free, with a bowl-shaped depression near the centre, lying between Mincey Glacier on the north and Baldwin Glacier on the south; on the west side of Shackton Glacier. Discovered and photographed by US Navy Operaton Highjump, 1946-47, on the flights of 16 February 1947 and named by the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Lieut (jg) Robert P Heekin, USN, Navigator on Flight 8.
