Names that other countries have for this feature:
An ice-free valley between the Miers and Ward Glaciers through which an alpine glacier formerly moved to coalesce with the Koettlitz. The mouth of this valley is completely blocked by the Koettlitz moraine - the only one of the numerous valleys tributary to the Koettlitz isolated in such fashion. The main valley is hidden not only from the coast but from most of the surrounding ridges. Traversed by the VUWAE, 1960-61, during December and January, and given this descriptive name by them.
