This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A large dry area to the south and east of Mt Murray, adjacent to the Mawson Glacier. Named by the Southern Party of the NZGSAE, 1962-63, because of its proximity to the Mawson Glacier.
