A high, prominent, ridge-and-gable shaped mountain forming a distinctive landmark in this region, rising to 3970m about 28 miles east of Mt Deakin and about 10 miles south-south-west of Mt Kaplan, with a ridge running generally north-west and south-east. Discovered and photographed by Rear-Admiral Richard E Byrd on the Baselaying Flight of November 1929, and surveyed by A P Crary in 1957/58. Named by Crary fore Dr Hugh Odishaw, Executive Secretary of the US National Committee for the IGY.
