A glacier about 45 miles long, with a number of tributary glaciers, originating near the edge of the polar plateau in about 85°00' S, and generally flowing north to meet the Ross Ice Shelf at about the coordinates above. Discovered by the USASE, 1939-41, on Flight C of 29 February - 1 March 1940, and named by the US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Admiral DeWitt C Ramsey, USN, Vice Chief of Naval Operations at the time US Highjump, 1946-47, was under way.
