An island, approximately 1.5km long north to south and 138m high, roughly rectangular in shape, the largest in the Dellbridge Islands Group, lying south of Cape Evans, Ross Island, in McMurdo Sound. The island is composed of volcanic debris of a similar nature to that of Ross Island. Feature shown on: NZ AntTopo50-MF13
Discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition (Discovery Expedition, BrNAE), 1901-04, which so named this island because of its tent-like appearance.
