Narrative

The western portion of the Ross Dependency which fronts on the west side of the Ross Sea. Discovered by Ross in February 1841 and named by him for Queen Victoria. The name was evidently intended to apply to the whole of the Antarctic Continent, not just to the area now designated Victoria Land.
