A short, high, summit ridge in the Hughes Range, about 6 miles north of Mt Kaplan, rising to over 3600 metres. Discovered and photographed by Rear-Admiral Richard E Byrd on the Baselaying Flight of 18 November 1929 and surveyed by A P Crary in 1957/58. Named by Crary for Dr Alan T Waterman, Director of the US National Science Foundation, which directly supported US programmes during and after the IGY period of 1957/59.
