Large, mainly ice-covered island, 75 mi long and 20 mi wide, lying at the N side of Marguerite Bay off the W coast of Antarctic Peninsula. Discovered in 1832 by a British expedition under Biscoe, and named by him for Queen Adelaide of England. First surveyed by the FrAE, 1908-10, under Charcot.
