This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A very shallow round lake to the north-west of the Russian Progress Base in the Larsemann Hills and about 0.7 km south-east of Law Base.
Named after Richard Sibthorpe, Radio Technical Officer at Davis in 1986, who prepared all the radio equipment for Law Base.
