This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
An oval lake in the Larsemann Hills situated in a very flat valley floor, with a vertical snow and ice cliff on its northern shore.
When discovered by the 1986/87 ANARE party the water in the lake was opaque or murky and was unique in the area.
