Feature type: Neve (12)
This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A neve of about 25 square miles in the Hays Mountains, bounded by Mount Griffith, Mount Pulitzer, Taylor Ridge, and Vaughan Glacier. The feature was mapped by the USGS from surveys and USN aerial photographs, 1960-64. During November 1987, the neve was the camp site of the USARP-Arizona State University geological party, which suggested the name. The name derives from the setting, surrounded by peaks, and from the appearance of Mount Pulitzer, the profile of which is remindful of a dragon.
