This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A medium sized lake lying between slight hills in the middle of Broad Peninsula, Vestfold Hills. It has no outlet and is saline. One important source of water comes via a waterfall originating in Waterfall Lake.
Named for Ray Hand, biologist, Davis, 1977, who worked in this part of the Broad Peninsula and has significantly contributed to the knowledge of the microbiology of the lakes there.
