Named by UK-APC for Henri La Fontaine (1854-1943), Belgian documentalist, co-founder of Institut International de Bibliographie at Bruxelles, 1895, and of Office Central des Associations Internationales at Bruxelles, 1907; initiator of the Universal Decimal Classification.
