Bay 4 mi wide, lying between Mackenzie and Pirie Peninsulas, on the N side of Laurie Island in the South Orkney Islands. Apparently seen in the course of the joint cruise by Capt. George Powell, British sealer, and Capt. Nathaniel Palmer, American sealer, in 1821. It was roughly charted by Capt. James Weddell, British sealer, in 1822 and surveyed in 1903 by the ScotNAE of William S. Bruce, who named this bay for his wife, Jessie Mackenzie Bruce.
