This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Rounded, ice-free foothills extending for 12 mi along the W side of the terminus of Scott Glacier, from Mount Salisbury NNW to the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf. First seen and roughly mapped by the ByrdAE, 1928-30. Named by US-ACAN for Admiral H. Arnold Karo, Director of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1955-65.
