The spur was photographed from the air by RARE, 1947, U.S. Navy, 1966, and was surveyed by FIDS, 1958. Named in 1977 by US-ACAN for Lt. William J. Lasher, USN, LC-130 aircraft commander, Operation Deep Freeze, 1969 and 1970.
