First mapped by USGS from surveys and USN air photos, 1957-59. Named by US-ACAN for Cdr. Edgar A. Mohl, USN, hydrographic officer on the staff of Commander, USN Task Force 43, during Deep Freeze Operations I and II, 1955-56 and 1956-57.
