Feature type: Mountain (2a)
This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
Peak, 1,860 m, standing nearly 3 mi SW of Mount Christi and 4 mi NE of Mount Foster in the north-central part of Smith Island, South Shetland Islands. Because the peaks of Smith Island gave it a forked appearance when seen from a distance, American sealers in the 1820s called it Mount Pisgah Island after the double-topped Mount Pisgah in the town of Durham, CT. The name has since been restricted to the peak described.
