Large island in Highjump Archipelago, 6 mi long and from 1 to 3 mi wide, lying near the center of the main cluster of islands off the N flank of the Bunger Hills. Mapped from air photos taken by USN Operation HighJump, 1946-47, and named by the US-ACAN for Lt. (j.g.) Randolph G. Thomas, USN, hydrographic officer with USN Operation Windmill, 1947-48, who served as surveyor with the astronomical control parties.
