The feature was surveyed by CTAE, 1957, photographed from the air by the U.S. Navy, 1967, and further surveyed by BAS, 1968-71. Named by the UK-APC after Robert B. Wyeth, BAS geologist, Stonington Island, 1971-73, who worked in the Shackleton Range in 1971.
