This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
The rounded, amphitheatre-like basin opening to the west,lying between Sodomy Ridge to the north and the Mt Haswell ridge to the south. This is an important breeding area for Wandering Albatrosses and Giant Petrels and has been the site of much ongoing ornithological research. The name has been in common use, including in scientific publications, for many years.
