El nombre corresponde al apellido del Cocinero 1º Clodomiro Agüero Soto, de la dotación de la Escampavía "Yelcho" de la Armada de Chile, quien participó en el rescate de los náufragos de la Expedición Antártica Británica de Sir Ernest Shackleton en 1916. Cabo que se sitúa a aproximadamente 2 millas al SSE de la punta Negra, sobre la costa W de la bahía Blythe, en la parte N de la isla Livingston, islas Shetland del Sur.
