Origin

This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The point forming both the S extremity and the vertex of the V-shaped Desolation Island situated in the entrance to Hero Bay, Livingston Island. Separated from Miladinovi Islets to the S by Neck or Nothing Passage. British mapping in 1968. Named after Kavhan (hereditary viceroy function) Iratais, governor of the southern Bulgarian Black Sea region under Khan Krum the Terrible (9th Century AD).
