Fue denominado por personal científico del Instituto Antártico Chileno durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1990-1991 y corresponde al nombre de un pueblo indígena de Chile. Cerro que se ubica inmediatamente al NE del lago Oculto y al ESE del cerro Pehuenche, en el cabo Shirreff de la isla Livingston, islas Shetland del Sur.
