This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A broad glacier flowing into the head of Potaka Inlet on the N side of Thurston Island. Named by US-ACAN after Chief Photographer's Mate Owen McCarty, aircrewman on the USN Operation Highjump PBM Mariner seaplane that crashed on nearby Noville Peninsula, Dec. 30, 1946. McCarty and five other survivors were rescued on Jan. 12, 1947.
