A massive peninsula, 5 mi long and 3 mi wide, extending E from Nash Range into Ross Ice Shelf. The peninsula rises to over 800 m and is ice covered except for fringing spurs, as at Cape May, the NE extremity. Named by US-ACAN after Stanley S. Jacobs, oceanographer, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University, who made physical/chemical observations in the Southern Ocean including the Ross Sea area, 1963-2000.
