This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A summer-only facility established by Australia in the Larsemann Hills in 1987 and named after Phillip Law, Director of Australia’s Antarctic Division between 1949 and 1966. Under a Memorandum of Understanding between Australia and the Romanian Antarctic Foundation, Romania was able to utilize the facility between 2005 and 2015 (see variant name). That MOU expired in 2015. Station and camp names and locations are included in the Geographic Names Information System as a convenience for people searching for places in Antarctica, but that the US does not consider station or camp names to be equivalent to geographic features that are named through a BGN-approved process.
