A broad mountain, 1010 m, which is bounded by the terminus of the Meander Glacier, Mariner Glacier, and Boyer Glacier in east Mountaineer Range, Borchgrevink Coast. The mountain is ice covered with the exception of steep rock cliffs that form its northern face. Named by US-ACAN (2005) after Herman B. Zimmerman, a geologist-oceanographer who served the National Science Foundation in several capacities from 1977-2005 including: Director, Division of Earth Sciences, 1999-2005; Director, Polar Glaciology Program, Division of Polar Programs, 1987-91; four visits to Antarctica relative to activities such as polar ice coring, for which he was NSF Program Manager.
