This name originates from Italy. It is part of the Italy Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

Area (40x30 km, depth 400-900m) characterized by an unusual concentration of submarine mounds (700 to 2500m diameter, 50 to 100m height) in the West Ross Sea. Two mud volcanoes and 15 mounds were identified in the area. Discovered during the geophysical campaign of the R/V OGS-Explora (austral summer 2005-2006).
