Narrative

The eastern-most peak of the Porthos Range in the Prince Charles Mountains. It is a steep-sided ridge 1,555 m high. First visited in December 1956 by the ANARE southern party 1956-57 led by W G Bewsher. Named after James W McCarthy, senior meteorologist and second-in-charge at Mawson in 1956. Altitude is on the southern and central side of the mountain.
