This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The rocky point on the S side of the entrance to Solari Bay on Nordenskjöld Coast in Graham Land. Situated 4.35 km N of Pedersen Nunatak, 33.7 km NE of Cape Fairweather, 2.7 km SE of Sentinel Nunatak, and 10.27 km SSW of Richard Knoll. Formed as a result of the break-up of Larsen Ice Shelf in the area in the late 20th century. Antarctic Digital Database mapping in 2012. Named after the settlement of Balvan in Northern Bulgaria.
