This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The rocky, partly ice-covered ridge extending 7 km in SE-NW direction, 1.9 km wide and rising to 1100 m in the N foothills of Forbidden Plateau on Danco Coast in Graham Land. Situated 5.55 km E of Bacho Kiro Peak, 5.34 km SSW of Pishtachev Peak and 7.28 km NW of Mount Walker. Surmounts Rozier Glacier to the NE, Montgolfier Glacier to the SW, and Wilhelmina Bay and its southwesterly part Piccard Cove to the NW where the ridge ends in Sophie Cliff. British mapping in 1980. Named after the Thracian god Balis.
