This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The isolated peak is located in the core part of northwestern Grove Mountains, the south of which is covered with spalls and the north of which is a blue-ice platform. The shape of the mountain looks like a whale and the slope of it is rather steep. It was named when surveying and mapping during the 16th CHINARE in 2000.
