This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Kunlun Station, established in the zone A of the highest ice dome in the inland ice sheet area of South Pole, is 1,230 km far away from the Zhong Shan Station, whose steel structure body with the gross area is 236 sq.m, including living area and R&D area, providing a reception capacity of 15 or 20 persons in summer.It will be expanded and updated to a all year station with an area of 558.56 sq.m to meet the requirement of expedition in winter in 3 or 5 years. Based on Kunlun Station, China will launch a series of sciencetific research in the fields of Glaciology,Astronomy,Geology,Geophysics,Atmospheric science and Space Physics in the inland of Antarctic.
