This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
It is a sea area in the east of the Larsemann Hills near the Zhongshan Station.The water in it is deep and it can stay away from wind,so it is an ideal anchorage when R/V Xuelong in the south pole investigation anchored.In 1999, people mapped the picture of this sea area ,using differential GPS and Bathymetry.It was named when surveying and mapping in 2001.
