This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The partly ice-covered rocky ridge extending 3.8 km in SSE-NNW direction and 2.1 km wide, rising to 800 m on the SW side of Elgar Uplands in northern Alexander Island. Situated 9.65 km S by E of Appalachia Nunataks, 8 km SW of Mount Pinafore, 17.4 km NW of Mahler Spur, 15.15 km NE of Ravel Peak in Debussy Heights, and 17.8 km SE of Sutton Heights. Surmounts Gilbert Glacier to the SW. British mapping in 1971.
Named after the Bulgarian composer Georgi Atanasov (1882-1931).
