This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The 2.05 km wide cove indenting for 1.7 km m the S coast of Coronation Island in the South Orkney Islands E of Saunders Point and W of Tophet Point. Surmounted by Mount Sladen to the NE and Tophet Bastion to the E. British mapping in 1963.
Named after the freezer vessel Slanchev Bryag of the Bulgarian company Ocean Fisheries – Burgas whose ships operated in the waters of South Georgia, Kerguelen, the South Orkney Islands, South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula from 1970 to the early 1990s. The Bulgarian fishermen, along with those of the Soviet Union, Poland and East Germany are the pioneers of modern Antarctic fishing industry.
