This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The 1.4 km wide cove indenting for 1.1 km the SE coast of Elephant Island in the South Shetlans Islands SW of Trifonov Point, and centred 3.5 km NNE of Cape Lookout. Protected by a glacial moraine spit. Formed as a result of glacier retreat in the late 20th century. British mapping in 2009.
Named after the freezer vessel Zlatni Pyasatsi of the Bulgarian company Ocean Fisheries – Burgas whose ships operated in the waters of South Georgia, Kerguelen, the South Orkney Islands, South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula from 1970 to the early 1990s. The Bulgarian fishermen, along with those of the Soviet Union, Poland and East Germany are the pioneers of modern Antarctic fishing industry.
