Isthmus linking Laurens Peninsula to mainland Heard Island

Named For

Named after Fidelia Heard, wife of Captain John Heard. Sailing on the bark merchant vessel Oriental, Captain Heard provided the first recorded sighting of the island on 25 November 1853. Fidelia Heard made the first known drawings of Heard Island.
