This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The lake extending 420 m in W-E direction and 410 m in N-S direction on the SE coast of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands. Surface area 11 ha. Separated from the waters of Brunow Bay on the E and Bransfield Strait on the S sea by a 70 to 150 m wide strip of land. Situated at the base of Samuel Point and centred 600 m E of Needle Peak and 2.78 km SW of Vazov Point.
Named after the settlement of Opitsvet and the eponymous marsh in Western Bulgaria.
