This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A prominent buttressed peak at height 3434m, located on the Royal Society Range between Salient Peak to the northeast and Rester Peak to the southwest, with McConchie Ridge extending southeast from its summit into the névé of Walcott Glacier. Named to recognise Dr Sir Tipene O'Regan's outstanding public service to New Zealand's Antarctic geographical naming activities from 1 July 1985 to 11 July 2013.
