This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The feature is a small isolated rock outcrop, about 30m high, at the base of the northeastern side of Scott Nunataks, Alexandra Mountains.
The first rock outcrop discovered in Marie Byrd Land in 1911 by Lt. K. Prestrud of Amundsen's Antarctic Expedition, and the location of cairn erected by Lt. Prestrud. Visited by NZ science party 1987/88. Prestrud's cairn was approved as an historic site at the 1995 Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting.
