Narrative

A rock crag, 1310m, in the northwest extremity of Lanterman Range, Bowers Mountains, overlooking the junction of Sledgers Glacier and the Rennick Glacier.

Named For

Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-62. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for James J. Carnes U.S. Navy (USN), chief electrician's mate with the McMurdo Station winter party, 1967.
