Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-63. The toponym conforms to other names in the island group which, along with Cape Hooker, have been named after surgeons who have worked in Antarctica. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN).
