Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-64. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for DeVere E. Burt, U.S. Antarctic Research Program (USARP) biologist at Hallett Station, 1968-69.
